adventure bikes
For many years most motorcycle manufacturers have been pointed in the same direction. Bigger, more powerful and ultimately more expensive motorcycles. However, not everyone needs or wants a 1300 or 1390cc adventure bike, and even less riders can handle such a bike on these new adventure routes that are now popping up everywhere. I have seen that riders are looking more to the middle weight and smaller “Rally” style bikes. And although slow to follow the trend, some of the larger manufactures are now realizing they need to fill in some gaps below 900cc.
The middleweight and smaller bikes have become so popular because they are a mix between true off-road capability but also adventure ready with a large gas tank, lighter weight and more manageable power. Big adventure bikes like the GSA and Super Adventure have backed themselves into the touring bike corner rather than something you would take on a rowdy track. And that’s okay, we need those also. But the reality is, routes like the BDR, TAT, TET and the like are filled with T7s, Koves, Tuaregs, 890s and other midsized and smaller bikes because riders are increasingly looking to get off the pavement and ride just a bit more challenging tracks without the hindrance of a 600+lb bike and 160hp.
At Moto Patagonia we have been focused on quality riding and quality routes from the beginning. With that reasoning we use the right tool for the job, which has been middle weight bikes like the T7, TransAlp and Suzuki 800DE. For the summer of 2026/27 and 2027/28 we are going to offer more dirt-oriented rides, taking routes less traveled. Giving riders an opportunity to go ride in amazing places that are even more remote and just a bit more challenging than a typical gravel road.
We have invested a lot of time in building some new routes that no other company offers. We invested in new bikes which we feel are the right bikes for these routes. We have a chase truck that can go anywhere the bikes can to help us maintain some ability for self-rescue if needed, safety is a priority. But most importantly we have the right mindset to take you to ride in places you must zoom all the way in to even see where we are on the map. If You know, you know. That last one I think is most important, because the right mindset can make or break a ride. We want riders to have fun, feel challenged and feel stoked to be riding with us. Come to ride in Patagonia and the surrounding areas with us and you will get that feeling of a true adventure ride without the big groups and corporate feel.
