RIDING ITINERARY

DAY 1
PUERTO VARAS TO HORNOPIREN - 226 km

Day one of the tour includes spending the morning prepping the bikes and having a meeting to cover the route and safety. After we are all set we will take a back road around the Reloncaví Estuary to meet up with the Carretera Austral and ride due south to the small coastal town of Hornopirén. This is a great way to ease into the splendor of Patagonia.

DAY 2
HORNOPIREN TO LAGO YELCHO - 237 km

In Hornopirén we will board a ferry for a five hour trip south along the coast. We will sail through a beautiful fjord bordering the northern section of Parque Pumalín and arrive at the port of Caleta Gonzalo. From there, we will ride through Parque Pumalín, where we will have an opportunity to see 3000 year old, giant Alerce trees. From there we will ride to Lago Yelcho.

DAY 3
LAGO YELCHO TO FUTALEUFÚ - 62 km

Leaving Lago Yelcho, we will ride deeper into Patagonia. The road is paved for this section with nice direction and elevation changes, making for a scenic and exciting ride. We will ride adjacent to Parque Nacional Corcovado down to the small town of Villa Santa Lucia. It is here we will turn off the Carretera Austral for the day and ride into the Andes Mountains towards the world famous Futaleufú River. This all-dirt road section takes us into a very rural and beautiful part of Patagonia. We will pass the far side of Lago Yelcho with a dramatic view of the lake and mountains. We will again turn left towards the Futaleufú River and the town of Futaleufú, where we will stay for the night and prepare for the next day of rafting.

DAY 4
FUTALEUFÚ (REST DAY)

Waking up early to team up with local guides, we will have the once-in-a-lifetime chance to raft the class 4 and 5 rapids of the Futaleufú River. This world-famous whitewater river is a beautiful example of Patagonia’s natural wonders and an opportunity to experience a unique and exciting off-bike activity found only here in the Chilean Patagonia. We will have a half-day of Rafting. With a good meal after rafting and some rest in the evening, we will prepare to continue our journey south.

DAY 5
FUTALEUFÚ TO SAN CARLOS DE BARILOCHE

Leaving Futaleufú we cross into Argentina and over the Andes Mountains, riding into the town of Esquel Argentina on the immediate eastern side of the Andes. The ride towards Ruta 40 will have us leaving the Andes and into a dryer climate. The route runs the length of Argentina from top to bottom. The section we will be riding takes us into San Carlos de Bariloche. A German inspired mountain town of the Lakes District of Argentina.

DAY 6
SAN CARLOS DE BARILOCHE TO SAN MARTÍN DE LOS ANDES

Leaving Bariloche we will ride north around lake Nahuel Huapi. Riding back into the mountains we head for Villa La Angostura. A mountain town considered by some to be one of the most beautiful towns in Patagonia. Sitting on the north shore of Lake Nahuel Huapi the road to get here is some of the best paved road mountina riding in the region. Beautiful views and excellent twisty roads to ride. This will be a day designed for the moto and riding pleasure.

DAY 7
SAN MARTÍN DE LOS ANDES TO HUILO HUILO

This is the day we cross back into Chile. Riding back over the Andes, with a mix of pavement and dirt roads, we ride past Volcan Lanin in the Parque Nacional Lanin. This high pass crosses from Argentina into Pucon, Chile. Riding down into Pucon we will pass the Volcano Villarrica. This popular resort town is set on Lake Villarrica. With a short riding day we get a chance to relax in the afternoon in Pucon and take in the surrounding beauty.

DAY 8
HUILO HUILO TO PUERTO VARAS

The final day of riding is special as it takes us from Pucon at the start of the Entre Lagos Route south through the Los Lagos Region of Chile. This route was created as a back roads route through all the lakes along the Andes mountains. This day offers some of the best paved road riding in Chile. Passing lakes and volcano's as we ride south making our way back into Puerto Varas.
